WHISTLE TALK
May 14th, 2010

Spring Concert- **Kindergarteners are to wear red, white, and blue.

Kindergarten Graduation- May 28th at 6:00, please mark your calendars.

Kindergarten testing- Sign up is starting. If you know of anyone interested please make sure you let him or her know.

Field Day- May 27th, it starts after lunch until the end of the day. Please come join us if you can.
Science- We are studying about Bees.

Book Fair- May 17- 21st. Send your child with money on Wednesday if you would like them to buy anything. You can bring them in during the week if you would like also.

Musical: The musical is May 18th @ 6:30. Students are to be here at 6:15 in the room.

Character First- The month of May we will be learning about “Virtue.” Virtue- demonstrating honesty and integrity in my life by doing what is right
We will stress the following:
I Will:
-do what is right and encourage others to do the same.
-guard my eyes, ears, words, and thoughts.
-learn to stand-alone.
-abstain from anything, which might damage or pollute my mind or body.
-treat others, as I would want them to treat me

Bible Verse- Matthew 7:7b Seek, and you will find.

Numbers-These addition facts need to be memorized: (2+3=5, 3+2=5, 2+4=6, 4+2=6, 3+3=6, 2+5=7, 5+2=7 3+4=7, 4+3=7, 2+6=8, 6+2=8, 3+5=8, and 5+3=8, 2+7=9, 7+2=9, 3+6=9, 6+3=9, 4+5=9, and 5+4=9 2+8=10, 8+2=10, 3+7=1-, 7+3=10, 4+6=10, 6+4=10, and 5+5=10) They need to give the answer within a three second time limit. Please help your child learn them. Practice these facts in the car to and from school. They will be tested again this next week. Only a few children know these facts well!!!

SSRW- we have worked on the short “u” words this week. They read the little storybooks Just Junk (the paper book that came home) and Russ and the Gift. Have them practice reading their storybooks at home. Remember to return their slips for the books and their short word list. I am still missing a few slips.
